CBSE conducts Group Mathematical Olympiad based on which successful candidates are sent to the International Mathematical Olympiad. A maximum of 30 students from CBSE group are selected (strictly in order of merit) to participate in Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) conducted by National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM). Selection at the National level leads to the participation at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
Any student studying in class IX, X, XI or XII, can participate in the competition. However, there is a common question paper for all the students. A school can sponsor maximum five students for the competition. These five students should be selected strictly on the basis of a screening test conducted by the school itself.
