In the latest move by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), it has mandated its teachers to undergo a week-long training every year in the area of effective school management and leadership. The CBSE had modified its affiliation bye-law to include this clause on training of teachers.
Every school should organise at least one-week training programme for teachers every year, in association with any teacher training institute by the state or central government, or by any agency identified by the Board. The flagship five-day behavioural programme on Leadership and School Management would be offered in both residential and non-residential format.
The focus area for this in-service training is continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE), Right to Education (RTE) and school leadership. The CBSE has identified and empanelled a number of training agencies that are conducting these programmes at nominal costs.
